We all want to show off a nice tan, but it’s not as simple as going out and exposing ourselves to the sun, so below you will find a few simple tips to take advantage of your days at the beach while taking care of your skin.

If you want to see yourself tanned in the summer, you don’t need to be in the sun every day. What’s more, sunbathing every day can work against you. On the other hand, if you sunbathe every other day, your skin will acquire a better tan.

Alternating sun exposure on different days not only results in a better tan but also helps reduce UV damage to DNA and premature skin aging.

Although the body needs sunlight to make vitamin D, the sun contains ultraviolet rays that can cause damage. Only 15 minutes are needed for this.

The time you spend in the sun accumulates as overtime, which can lead to skin cancer.

To protect itself from this radiation, the body produces melanin, a dark pigment that acts as a kind of natural protection against the sun’s rays. That’s where that tanned look comes from.

Limit your exposure to the sun: Try to avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the rays are strongest. Also, remember that you are still in the sun on cloudy days or when you are in the shade.

Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) 15 or higher: It should also be a broad spectrum sunscreen, which means protection for UVA and UVB rays. If you have very fair skin, use SPF 30 or higher. Apply sunscreen 20-30 minutes before going outside, and reapply at least every two hours.

Wear sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays: Large sunglasses that cover the sides of the face (wrap-around style) work better because they block UV rays than they enter through the sides of the glasses.

Wear a hat: You can get the best protection with a wide-brimmed hat.

Are you ready? Then choose your swimsuit and let’s enjoy!
